BATTLE OF SACRAMENTO

Experience the Reenactment of the Battle of Sacramento held the third weekend of May. This Civil War Battle was fought on December 28, 1861. The battlefield is the undisputed location of Nathan Bedford Forrest’s First Fight! Forest’s First is the largest Cavalry battle in the state of Kentucky.

BATTLE OF BROWNING SPRINGS CIVIL WAR SITE

Located at the Browning Springs Middle School, visit the site where 300 Union troops were defeated by 7 Confederate troops on June 13, 1862.

NORTONVILLE LIBRARY AND MUSEUM

This museum features exhibits relative to any small town but enhanced by pictures and information particular to this area, including displays of various examples of art and art forms, a military wall of rememberence, railroad and coal displays, as well as memorabilia from local schools of the past.

MUNN'S HISTORIC SCHOOL

Madisonville, KY

Visit one of the remaining two room schools in this area built in 1879. The school is a museum in itself because it is a replica of the early schoolroom with furnishings of the times when the school was in use.
